The Little Gate, Under Siege
The enemy was expected by the high road. It came down from the mountains, through the gate no one kept up. One tower has collapsed across the rampart; the other still stands, its old scaffolding blackened by the flames. Through the archway glows the fire consuming the castle and the upper quarters. At the foot of the ramp, a siege ladder is burning out among the rubble.
