Heraldry Among Humans
It was born on the shield, out of necessity: beneath the helm that erases the face, one had to know who was advancing and on which side he fought. The painted surface became a signature legible at a distance, on the battlefield as at the tournament. In time, that signature became a language. A coat of arms condenses a house's identity into figures and colors, its lineage, its alliances, its deeds and its rank, ordered by a strict grammar in which every charge and every tincture reads like a word.
A medieval heater shield token or prop asset displaying a blue and gold heraldic design featuring a rampant lion, mounted on a wooden plank background with decorative dark borders. The shield shows visible battle wear including scratches and dents, with metal riveted edging and a yellow chief band across the top. This asset is suited for fantasy RPG encounters involving knightly orders, noble houses, or medieval warfare scenarios, and can serve as an inventory item, faction emblem, or scene decoration in virtual tabletop platforms such as Foundry VTT, Roll20, or Fantasy Grounds.
