Brog Bolboc

Brog Bolboc, the Elder Brother Who Toasts at War.

Brog is the older brother of a famous brewer, and for many dwarves, that is enough to know him. He laughs, pours a drink, then returns to the line. His hair went grey far too early, during a campaign he only ever sings the choruses of. On the verses, he falls silent. Some nights, he pours a splash of beer into it, as if shame could become a good enough joke.

Describe him

A broad, loud dwarf with amber-stained grey hair, who always has a tankard or a joke in hand. He knows every drinking song and starts them too loud. He makes foolish bets, loses with good grace, and surrounds himself with friends louder than good sense. But he always sits facing the door. And when the order comes, he sets his tankard down unfinished.

Play him

Enter through the joke, never the speech. Break the tension with a tavern remark, then obey cleanly when danger turns real. Not one word too many, not one beat late. In battle, keep his laughter present from start to finish, less boasting than signal, and if he falls silent mid-fight, make the table feel that something has just broken. What his comrades know without saying it: as long as he jokes, the line holds.

What he says (rarely)

"It isn't grey. It's ale-stained."
"My brother holds the barrels together. I hold the line."
(just before the charge) "Laugh now. Later, it'll be your teeth doing the rattling."
