"Read everything before you touch anything. A golem cannot be made in two sittings."Before you begin
If you are holding these pages, either I judged you ready, or you opened this chest without my permission. Either way, read to the end. You will see that past a certain point, the clay decides how much time you have left, and it will not wait for you to find your place again.
What You Are Doing
You are not about to create a life. Remember that, and you will spare yourself a great deal of disappointment. A golem does not think, wants nothing, judges nothing, and will never love you. It wakes, it obeys, it stops. You are going to build a body of earth and seal inside it a force drawn from the plane of Earth itself. All the rest is nothing but learned masonry.
What You Will Need: Materials
- An odem, the heart, forged from an exceptional steel and chiseled with runes. Every stroke counts. A badly cut rune does not fail. It does something else.
- Clay, a great deal of it, and of good quality, to make its body. You will work it fresh, and you will not have the luxury of starting over.
What You Will Need: Craftsmen
- A smith capable of steel of that quality, and of engraving finely enough for the runes to hold. There are not many of them, and they do not work for just anyone.
- A sculptor able to reproduce magic circles on a curved surface without distorting a single line. A craftsman who sculpts well but copies poorly will build you a very handsome corpse.
- A mage powerful enough to wake the circles and hold the link all the way to the plane of Earth. If you are wondering whether you are capable of it, you are not.
The Order of the Work
- Have the odem forged, and check every rune yourself, one by one, before you leave the forge.
- Have the body sculpted. The circles are traced into the clay while it is soft, never after.
- The mage wakes the circles and opens the link to the plane the matter came from.
- The point of no return. While the clay is still fresh, set the odem into the chest and make certain the clay holds it. The magic then spreads through all the matter from that point. From here on you are no longer building. You are holding on.
A Warning
This plan ends at a finished body, standing, and perfectly still. Without a
control ring, that is all it will ever be: yours will not wake, will obey no one, and poses no danger to anybody. Get hold of the ring before you begin, or you will have sculpted a very expensive statue.
A clay golem crafting schematic presented as an aged, annotated manuscript page, depicting a deconstructed golem body with labeled components including a spherical chest cavity, segmented limbs, armored feet, and surrounding magical sigils and geometric ritual circles. The document functions as an in-world crafting plan token or handout prop for tabletop RPG sessions involving arcane construction, artifact creation quests, or dungeon lore discovery. Compatible with fantasy RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and other d20 systems, it is suitable for use as a player handout, journal insert, or lore asset on virtual tabletops like Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds. The schematic supports encounters centered on golem creation rituals, arcane research, and magic item crafting storylines.
