It all begins with the clay, and that is where most golems fail. It must hold not a grain of sand nor a single pebble, because the slightest flaw becomes a crack, and a crack that runs through a circle is enough to break it. Good deposits are rare and jealously held. The earth is dug, slaked, and left to settle until only the finest remains, then left to age for months in the damp dark of a cellar, until it turns as supple as flesh. Some workshops keep stores laid down by their master's master's master. This image depicts a clay golem body in the process of construction, set inside a stone workshop or dungeon chamber. The scene includes a large inscribed clay sphere suspended from a wooden crane with a pulley system, alongside scattered clay limb components such as hands and torso pieces, all engraved with arcane sigils and geometric seals. This asset is well-suited for artificer workshop encounters, golem-creation ritual scenes, or investigation scenarios in fantasy RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, or Call of Cthulhu, and is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms including Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds.
