Hilda Crabbe
(waving an eel) “Fresh this morning, my duck! Look, it’s still wriggling!”You can hear Hilda Crabbe from one end of the market to the other, and smell her from a little closer. She cries up her catch at the top of her lungs, guts a fish without looking at it, and hands back change calling everyone “my duck,” from the errand boy to the knight. Those who try to haggle make her burst out laughing, and they leave at the starting price, with an extra herring for their trouble. She knows who landed what, from which boat, and which skipper hasn’t paid his crew yet.Hilda Crabbe is a female fishmonger NPC token depicted in a medieval market setting, wearing a coarse apron, rope belt, leather satchel, and red neckerchief, with raw fish and a wicker basket visible at her sides. This character serves as a vendor, quest giver, or information broker in urban market encounters, fitting roles such as local gossip, black market contact, or harbor district NPC. Compatible with fantasy RPG systems including D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and OSR games, and suitable for use on virtual tabletops such as Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Alchemy RPG.
