Velmeen Khurnal, the Huntress They Correct Too Quickly.
Velmeen reads the ground faster than she reads people, and it unsettles them. A quarry does not forgive polite gestures, so she cuts clean, without dressing the decision, and lets others take offense. One winter, a hunt leader trusted his own judgment over hers, and the party came home three short. She has never hunted under anyone's orders since. Now, when someone contradicts her, she does not argue: she crouches and lays a finger on the track.
Describe her
A lean woman with short, spare movements, who enters a room looking at the floor first. She speaks little and fast, with no courtesy wrapped around it. Her eyes do not linger on you: they go to your boots, to the mud they carry, to the road they tell. She does not smile at compliments. But when someone truly walks beside her, she slows her pace without being asked.
Play her
Have her read before she speaks. She sees the trail, the misstep, the lie, a second before everyone else, and says it unwrapped. Take every compliment as a trap laid for her, but grant real skill plainly. Don't make her aggressive, make her exact. If a player tries to decide in her place, let her fall silent and set off on the trail she saw, so the table finds out at the next halt that she was right. The way in, for whoever looks for it: stop commenting on what she is, and talk to her about the ground.
What she says (rarely)
"I never asked to be easy to place."
"Look at the tracks. Not at me."
(to someone she has just bruised) "If it reassures you, call it tact. From a distance."
