You spot it. The sea has drawn back farther than usual. On the glistening tidal flats, an immense shape waits, motionless, facing the town, and the gulls keep their distance. Then a slow, calm voice settles inside your head and speaks a name. If it’s yours, you already know it has seen you.
The visit. You’re at the inn, nine miles from the coast, the door barred. A smell of silt rises through the floorboards. Inside your head, the voice describes where you’re sitting, repeats what you just said, and names the person across from you. It gives you until dawn. How it fights. It seeks one person only and brushes the others aside with a backhand, without lingering on them. It knows where you’ll be before you get there and hears the plans whispered behind its back. If it must, it tears the roof off whatever shelter the marked one is hiding under. It carries its quarry away alive.
How to fight it. The only respite is to drag the marked one farther inland than the sea ever reaches: the colossus will wait at the edge, for days if it has to. The real way out runs through the power that set the mark, which must be persuaded to lift it or accept a ransom. Whoever follows the colossus willingly arrives there as a guest rather than a prisoner. The Colossus of the Deep is a massive humanoid creature token featuring a tentacled, octopus-like head with large curved horns, barnacle-encrusted green-grey skin, and chains draped across its torso, standing on a misty coastal shoreline. This colossal entity functions as a boss-level encounter token for coastal, tidal flat, or harbor battlemap settings, suited to horror, Lovecraftian, and dark fantasy RPG encounters involving pursuit, debt collection, or divine bargaining. Compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds, it scales well for high-challenge encounters in campaigns centered on sea gods, eldritch pacts, or maritime horror.
