Tromund, the Ring of Kings

"Dwarves have no king. Yet they know to whom they gave their friendship."
What it is
A ring of Dürn, the rock-iron whose pale veins run beneath the surface as the lodes run beneath the mountain. The nodules that crown it are shards of vein left raw, just as they were torn from the rock, yet fitted so tightly that no blade could find the seam. The dwarves gave it to a human king as a pledge of friendship, and that is where its name comes from: they have no king themselves, their cities are ruled by Varns. Since then, it has passed from king to king.
What it does
Whoever wears it takes on the hardness of stone: the blade that strikes him meets rock rather than flesh. And at his will rises an immense hand of stone, which he guides by thought like his own hand, to seize, crush, or hold back what no man could.
What it costs
The ring is a symbol, and whoever wears it answers for it: each of his deeds binds the friendship it seals. Fortunately, few know of it. A lord receives so many prestigious gifts that this one is lost among the others, and its existence has remained all but confidential. Yet a single dwarf in the hall is enough for that to end.
