Patrilineum, the Book of Bloodlines

"Tell me who made you, and I'll tell you who will kill you."
A hunters' proverb

What it is
A thick volume bound in dark leather, its fore-edge clasped by a cylinder of silver. No key opens it, no blade can force it. Only a vampire can read it, and he must pay to do so: lay his hand on the silver and let the burn do its work.
What it does
The blood consumed by the silver spreads across the page and traces the bloodline of the one who shed it: his sire, that sire's sire, and so on, as far back as the blood remembers. One can also press another vampire's hand to it, willingly or by force, to read theirs. Traced back far enough, it is said, every page ends at the same name.
What it costs
A silver burn is slow to heal, even for a vampire. But the true price lies elsewhere. What the blood has written never fades, and in a hunter's hands the book becomes a map: a single hand is enough to reveal an entire bloodline, and to know whom to hunt next. A vampire searching for his origins must therefore ask himself who will read the page after him.

The Patrilineum is a token or prop asset depicting a thick, dark leather-bound tome secured with ornate brass fittings, a wax seal, and a silver clasp cylinder, resting on weathered wooden planks. The cover features an embossed knotwork serpent or infinity symbol, and a decorative scroll or writing instrument is tucked alongside the spine. This asset is suited for vampire hunter campaigns, gothic horror, or dark fantasy tabletop RPG encounters as a key item, lore object, or plot MacGuffin. Compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds for use in inventory displays, scene props, or handout systems.
