Finding a silver ingot is good news; selling it is another matter. The black market will buy it without asking questions, but at a knockdown price, and a stranger unloading silver in quantity always ends up drawing attention. A mining operation will absorb it more quietly into its own output, provided you accept hard bargaining with people who know the market rate better than you do. That leaves the jewelers' guild, which pays a fixed and honest price, but which weighs, tests the purity, and asks where the metal came from.
