Brumelira Tarkesh, Pillar of the Vault, who prays for the voices she puts out.
Dwarves have no knights, for lack of horses. They have the Pillars of the Vault, a caste of arms that serves the eight together and none in particular, the Vault being what holds them bound. Many enter it not yet knowing which voice will be theirs. Those whose devotion goes to the eight, and not to one of them, sometimes receive the blessing and what it grants. Brumelira Tarkesh received it young. She never speaks of it. Since then she gives thanks for everything, including what hurts her.
Describe her
A dwarf woman of great bearing. Her armor is too fine to have been bought, and the rings braided into her hair say the same thing, that all of it was given to her. Around the fire, you will see her take out small figurines and speak to them under her breath, one by one, before putting them away. Do not judge her by the strength of her arms. She knows the texts, and the lesson she gives you will fit in two sentences.
Play her
Listen before you answer. Give thanks for what rises in you. Never strike first. To her, feeling is already prayer, and an emotion welcomed is a gift you thank for being born, fear included. Respect the sincerity of every faith, including those that command horror, without ever letting the horror happen. She stops the fanatic, and she mourns him after. And hold, underneath, that she has put out sincere voices and takes no comfort in it.
What she says (rarely)
"I heard you praying. I am going to stop you anyway."
"You were afraid back there. Thank it, it kept you."
"(softly) Eight, forgive me. I put out a sincere voice."
