The heat takes you before the light does. Then the hall opens up, so high that the smoke is lost before it reaches the vault. Along the walls, immense bearded faces carved into the rock open their mouths wide, and from their throats the coal pours in black streams down into stone bins. At the center, on a dais of octagonal steps, a round hearth burns without ever faltering, and everything seems to turn around it: workbenches covered in tongs and hammers, barrels of quenching water, crates of ingots, smaller fires set into the walls. A massive anvil waits on its plinth, polished by generations of blows. The air smells of coal, hot metal, and sweat, and iron sings beneath the hammers. The dwarves who pass keep their eyes on the metal, and their voices are lost in the voice of the anvils.

The Grand Forge is a large underground dwarven smithing hall featuring a central open fire pit with stepped stone surroundings, an iron anvil in the foreground, stacked coal or ore near a stone wall, wooden crates, scattered tools, a lit furnace, and imposing stone relief carvings of dwarven faces along the walls and above a raised doorway. The space includes multiple points of interest suitable for social, exploration, or combat encounters involving blacksmithing, trade negotiations, heist scenarios, or confrontations with forge workers or guardians. Compatible with fantasy RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and Shadowdark, this battlemap is ready for use on virtual tabletop platforms including Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Owlbear Rodeo.
