The forest barely opens, and there it is, wedged between two boulders as though someone had set it down in a hollow so it would not be found. A base of stone, a timbered gable, a shingle roof so eaten by moss that it has gone green. The silence is the silence of old growth: far above you birds call to one another, and down here nothing but water dripping off the leaves. It smells of moss, of wet stone, and as you come nearer, of woodsmoke. The pebble path grates under your boots and announces you long before the door. On the oak panel, an iron ring, cold, worn smooth in the middle by hands.
A forest cottage battlemap featuring a small stone-and-timber structure with a moss-covered roof, set along a narrow pebble path surrounded by ancient trees, large boulders, and dense undergrowth. The arched wooden door, stone boundary wall, and misty forest canopy provide key environmental details for wilderness encounters. This scene is suited for mystery, exploration, or social interaction encounters such as meeting a hermit, hedge wizard, or forest recluse. Compatible with major virtual tabletop platforms including Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds, and appropriate for fantasy, folklore, or low-magic RPG systems.
