“It’s looking for its words. Pray it never finds them.”
A boatswainThe depths have their cursed things, and no priest can say which god spawned this one. Sailors always find it in the same places: above waters where fleets have fought and ships have gone down. It lives below, among the wrecks, and rises only with the storm, when the sea is already doing half the work. Wherever it has sunk a ship, it is seen again at the next storm. Its maws make a sound like voices trying to form words. Most of those it kills die drowned, fallen overboard while trying to flee it.
You spot it. Beneath the roar of the rain, one sound doesn’t belong: soft slaps against the hull, steady, like meat being pounded. Then wet sloshing, maws snapping shut far too close to the rail. A smell of iodine catches in your nose, sharper than the sea itself. Lightning tears the sky, and the thing flattens itself against the planking as if it had been struck.
The ambush. You are at the rail, both hands on a line the wind is trying to rip away from you. Something cold and soft closes around your ankle. You are still holding the rope when the deck drops out from under you, and the black water rises to meet you.How it fights. It grabs and it bites, but its weapon is the scream: a howl that shoves the air ahead of it and knocks over everything it hits. When no one is within reach, it turns the scream on the sails, tearing them and snapping the yards. It wants a dead-in-the-water ship, broadside to the swell and ready to capsize. Nothing in that mass resembles a heart. Cut off one maw and the others keep biting.
How to fight it. Stay clear of known wreck sites when the wind picks up. If it is already there, light is your weapon, because it has no eyelids to shield itself. A lantern thrust toward it drives it back, and fires lit all along the rail keep it off the deck. You still have to keep a flame alive in the storm.Gorgolth is a massive tentacled sea creature token featuring multiple toothed maws and numerous eyes across a fleshy, spherical body, depicted rising above a storm-lashed ship deck amid rain and lightning. The creature's anatomy lacks any central vital point, with writhing tentacles extending from its core mass. This token suits naval horror encounters, kraken-class boss fights, and open-water ambush scenarios in dark fantasy, cosmic horror, or maritime RPG campaigns. Compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds for use as a large or gargantuan creature token.
