Ellisara Draven, the Last Vaerlan
"The Vaerlan burned. The most beautiful of them remained."Three centuries ago, the Vaerlan made Ellisara their heir by biting her, at twenty-two. Three months later, the inquisitors burned their house and believed the bloodline extinguished: she had hidden in the forge, and the fire could do nothing against her. As a half-elf, she would have lived a long time, but it is her age as a vampire that makes her powerful. The curse fed on what she was proudest of, her beauty, and kept it intact. Beneath that face, three centuries of strength lie waiting.Appearance
You catch sight of her. A woman crosses the crowd, and every man's gaze follows her without her asking for a single one. She is of a beauty one dares not look away from, and you do not look away. When she finally smells you, her face barely changes: her eyes darken, her fangs bare, and the rest remains so perfect that your mind still refuses to be afraid. She is already upon you.The ambush. She smiled at you earlier, at the inn, and you followed her without quite knowing why. The alley is deserted, her hand is cool in yours, her scent makes your head spin a little. She turns to look at you, and you tell yourself that no face has ever been so beautiful. It is the last clear thought you will have.Combat
How she fights. Three centuries have made her body a weapon, but a weapon no one can see: where elders twist into monsters, Ellisara barely changes. Her strength and speed, however, have nothing living left in them. She crosses a hall before anyone has drawn a sword and snaps an arm with one hand. Her beauty does the rest, above all on men, who hesitate to strike what they cannot stop gazing at.How to fight her. Sunlight, daytime sleep, silver, and the stake work on her as on all her kind. Fire does not: a pyre has already failed, and only magical fire will finish what it could not take. Do not run from her, she is faster than you. Send against her those her beauty leaves cold, and do not seek her eyes. If you want her to make a mistake, mar her face: for what she holds most precious, she will forget even caution. And remember that her blood is among the oldest one can still drink, and that in her own house, others know it.
