"Viktor is young. His armor is not."Twenty years ago, Viktor was a master-at-arms. He accepted the bite and left his human memory in the reliquary he wears at his throat. Ellisara then gave him Cruoris, the way one gives a lord the armor of his rank. He does not know it is a bloodline he has put on: a Vaerlan will that took refuge in the steel, found nothing in him to erase, and is filling him, slowly. Viktor is a young vampire. You catch sight of him. Under the moon, a figure moves with a feline gait and the assurance of those the night has never crossed. His eyes throw back a silver gleam. He greets you first, with a courtesy no one has practiced in generations. Then he smells you, and the face he showed the world comes undone: veins bulge beneath his scalp, every muscle tightens around a hatred that may not even be his own, and long claws with a metallic sheen slide from his hands.The ambush. The damp night air draws a shiver from you and the gloom thickens. A scent reaches you then, soft, the scent of a hearth where someone is waiting for you. You breathe in to steady yourself. A draft brushes your back. From the corner of your eye, you see the shadow unravel into black wisps, your jugular begins to throb as if your blood wanted to rush out to meet it, and a face with bared fangs is already at your throat.Combat
How he fights. Viktor fights like the young vampire he is, and like the master-at-arms he was: a blade in hand, a flawless guard, not one wasted move. But when the fight turns against him, something else takes his place. The blade drops, his hands close into claws, and suddenly he fights like an elder, with a body twenty years could never have forged. That is Cruoris striking, and that is when he becomes most dangerous.How to fight him. Sunlight, daytime sleep, silver, the stake, and fire work on him as on all his kind. But the best opening hangs at his throat. Threaten the reliquary and Viktor will protect it before anything else, before his blade, before his own life: every blow aimed at the medallion forces him to leave himself open. Break it, though, and know what you are doing. The shattered glass gives him back, all at once, everything he agreed to forget, and inside an armor that will not let go of his body, two men will fight over it.
