You spot him. At the end of the corridor, an armored figure stands before a sealed door, as still as a sentry at his post. As you draw near, you hear his breathing, dry and rasping, that of a throat nothing has quenched in centuries. He draws his blade without haste and takes his guard, and you recognize the stance of a man who knew how to fight.The ambush. Your fingers have barely closed on the relic when a slab slides shut behind you. A voice rises from the shadows, hoarse, guttural, and speaks a word in a language no one speaks anymore. The blade he holds wakes with a cold glow, and that glow shows you a face hollowed by hunger, already upon you.Combat
How he fights. He fights like the warrior he was, with the guard, feints and parries of his era and his people. Pain does not stop him, fatigue does not reach him, and his hunger makes him relentless. He strikes first at whoever comes closest to what he guards, and if he carries a magic item, he uses it at the right moment, as he did in life.How to fight him. Face him as you would a veteran, and do not count on a dead man's clumsiness: study his style, which betrays his culture and his era. Since he never leaves what he guards, falling back out of his domain is enough to break off the fight. Desecrating what he watches over frees him and crumbles him to dust, but then it is the god who condemned him you will have to deal with.
