Denethiel, the Sword of Salvation
"One does not draw Denethiel against a man. One raises it against whatever, within him, has ceased to be one."What it is
A longsword with a pale blade, graven with liturgical Latin along the fuller. The Ordo Aurorae forged it in honor of Caeldor, one of its first great blades, who entered the light after defending the Order against an evil it then underestimated: demons, which hide among the living far better than necromancers do. It is called the Sword of Salvation. At rest it looks dull, all but blunt. No whetstone changes that.
What it does
The soul before it sets its edge. Against a pure heart it refuses to bite, sliding off without breaking the skin. Against a soul gnawed by the demonic, it sharpens with every blow, until it cleaves steel like cloth. While it is held, its bearer feels the unease of whoever is speaking to him, without knowing whether it comes from a lie, from fear, or from something else.
What it costs
Its power is worth only the faith of the hand that holds it. To the lukewarm it gives a dull sword; to the fervent, it splits steel. It judges its bearer as well: raised against the innocent, it stays deaf and slack, and betrays whoever misuses it. Many have given it back for that reason.
Denethiel is a fantasy longsword token or item card asset depicting an ornate, rune-engraved blade wreathed in golden flames, accompanied by a matching decorated leather scabbard, displayed against a dark wood-paneled background. The sword features intricate gilded crossguard and pommel detailing alongside script engravings along the fuller, making it suitable as a visual reference for a legendary or divine weapon in tabletop RPG systems. This asset is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds, and fits encounters in high fantasy, dark fantasy, or religious/paladin-themed campaigns involving sacred or consecrated artifacts.
