From the Liber Reliquiarum Interdictarum, volume the fourth, in the hand of Inquisitrix Ysoré Malvent
The Weeping Gyre was forged from the bars of a gaol of the Abyss, in the last circle of the hells. The metal took in the cries of thousands of the tormented, and it has never given them back.
Let no one imagine, for all that, a noisy piece. The ring does not sing aloud; it sings in the heads of those who come near the one who wears it, and the singing grows as they draw closer until it covers every other thought. I set down here, because several of our brothers learned it too late, that deafness affords no protection whatever, for the cries do not travel by way of the ear.
We have found only one defence, and it is not a safeguard. Certain monastic orders teach a mastery of the emotions deep enough that a man may hear without yielding; but to hold out is not to be spared, and those we drew away too late fell into a madness from which none has recovered.
There remains what it costs the wearer, for he believes himself out of reach and he is wrong. The cries spare him while he is awake. But each time he looses them, the tormented keep the road to his night and come to occupy it until morning, so that the ring takes nothing from the man who uses it and everything from the man who abuses it.
A cursed iron ring token asset depicting a rusted, open-banded ring engraved with archaic runes and fitted with iron spikes encasing a cluster of agonized humanoid faces. The object sits on a worn wooden surface framed by stone and knotwork borders, suited for use as a legendary or artifact-tier item prop in dark fantasy, horror, or infernal-themed tabletop RPG sessions. This token is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds, and fits encounter types involving cursed relics, abyssal artifacts, or psychological horror mechanics.
