Lyrax Leather

The greatest virtue of Lyrax leather is not its toughness, though nothing pierces it and no water passes through. It is its silence, for it drinks sound. A footstep dies in it, a blow is smothered, a wave is lost before it can bite the flesh. The beast grew up inside its own rumble; it burrows through stone and slips through black water, and its skin has kept all of it: the toughness of the digger, the seal of the swimmer, the calm of a thing that lives in the roar. It is taken from beneath the plates, where the hide stays supple, but tanning it without killing that virtue is beyond the ordinary. Only a master tanner knows how to work it without letting it harden, crack, or lose its stilled voice. A whole piece, torn from the beast without bringing down the cave and then placed in the right hands, is worth a small fortune.

A token or item asset depicting three rolled and bound hides of dark green and brown leather, stored in a dimly lit stone alcove. The hides appear thick and layered, tied with cord, suggesting rare or high-value crafting materials. This asset is suited for use as a loot item, crafting component, or merchant inventory prop in fantasy RPG encounters involving traders, dungeon caches, or alchemist workshops. Compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds.
