Mithrak-Dûl, the Urn of Binding

"You do not keep a sick mountain inside the mountain."
What it is
An urn of fired clay, caught in a net of rope and closed with a seal of red wax. It holds a demonic magic that corrupts stone, which is why it was never carved from rock: fired clay was never mountain, and has no vein for this evil to bite into. On its belly, the engraved spirals trace a maze with no way out, where the evil circles endlessly.
What it does
As long as the seal holds, nothing gets out. The magic within searches for the wall that will give, like a beast pacing its cage, and never finds it. Those who keep it never forget the one rule that matters: it rests on wood or bare earth, never on stone.
What it costs
The seal holds only by the ropes, and rope wears out. It must be renewed without ever lifting the wax, a skill few still have. Should the seal give way, the magic seeks the nearest stone: it sinks in, the rock blackens and splits, and the evil runs along the veins as far as they lead.
