Barumaz, the Storm-Drinker

"Lightning does not ask who you are. The hammer does."
What it is
A dwarven hammer forged at Dol Murakh to honor a banished one who saved a patrol buried beneath an avalanche. Legend holds that the Elder himself charged it with lightning at the summit, a thing none other of the Eight could do, for only the adopted child from outside may handle what falls from the sky, and only the god of the cast-out could honor one the mountain had driven away. Its steel keeps a rune that drinks the storm.
What it does
The nearer a storm draws, the more it fills, and it is this slow swelling that warns its bearer of a tempest long before anyone else. In battle, it gives its gathered lightning to the body it strikes. Far from any storm, it is only a good heavy hammer, patient, waiting for the next sky.
What it costs
One must bind oneself to it through a rite before raising it. Whoever it does not know, it strikes with its own lightning. Near a storm, when it overflows, that refusal kills, and it is then that the hammer is least inclined to forgive.

Barumaz is a dwarven war hammer token or item card depicting a large, rune-engraved hammer with glowing golden Nordic-style knotwork across its double-faced head and a leather-wrapped handle, resting against a stone surface framed by iron-banded borders. The hammer features luminous rune engravings suggesting stored lightning energy, making it suitable as a legendary or artifact-tier weapon prop for dwarven-themed encounters. This asset functions as a handout, inventory item, or loot card in tabletop RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, or Norse/Viking-inspired campaigns. It is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms including Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds.
