A heavy dwarven crossbow with neither string nor bow. In their place, filaments of Dürn are stretched across jointed arms that fold back as it is spanned. What it draws is not a cord but the steel of the ancestors, and many a dwarf swears under his breath that it is the ancestors' own strength that drives the bolt.What it does
Every bolt bears a rune of cold, cut in advance. As it looses, the crossbow wakes the rune and the shaft turns to ice. On impact, it melts inside the wound it has just opened. Nothing to draw out, nothing to plug the channel, and the cold bites flesh that will never close again. No one dies pierced beneath Khaldraz. They die emptied.What it costs
The price is double. Every shot devours its bolt, never to be recovered. And whoever cuts the rune into matter that cannot hold it feels the cold recoil into his own hand. Dwarves call it catching a bad cold.
