Barukthal Mordun-Esh, Who Leaves No Rest Unfinished
Barukthal lays the dead to rest because rest must be whole. He believes a dwarf passes only once, then returns to stone and never comes back. To him, a speaking corpse is someone laid down badly, left half inside the world: work still owed. Those who need return as a comfort find him bleak. Yet he is not empty of joy; he is afraid of wasting the only life anyone gets.Describe him
You speak little to strangers, and never for nothing. Before bones, you stay calm; you gather them the way one tidies a workshop. You laugh rarely, but fully, and always with your own. Only one thing changes your face: a dead man who speaks. Then you set down your pack, roll up your sleeves, and get to work.Play him
Make his warmth scarce and absolute. With strangers he spends no extra word; with his own, he holds nothing back. When the dead speak, do not make him furious. Make him practical, almost tender: he is not killing a monster, he is closing a sentence that should have ended. What he says (rarely)
"Rest is whole, or it is not rest.""You call it darkness because you expect another dawn."
"No. This one was not finished."
Barukthal Mordun-Esh is a dwarf NPC token or character asset depicting a heavily built, pale-skinned dwarf male with a long braided white beard, runic facial tattoos, and layered leather armor decorated with skull motifs on the belt and apron. He is positioned in front of a stone archway carved with geometric dwarven patterns, suggesting an underground or tomb environment. This character fits roles such as a dwarven death priest, gravewarden, or veteran warrior in fantasy tabletop RPG systems including D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and OSR titles. The asset is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds for use in dungeon, crypt, or dwarven stronghold encounters.
