Orrik Adul Miragh, the Unmoving
Kaelid, one of the most rigorous Guides of the Father-Mother, taught that thought is the source of magic and that the body is its vessel. To his disciples he posed only one question: "The body is made of matter, like this rock. Why should the rock keep its calm for centuries, and we not, at the first sign of danger?" Orrik made that question his life. He stripped from his gestures everything that wasn't necessary, then from his face, then from his voice. Whatever he still feels, no one sees anymore.
Describe him
He looks at you for a long time before the first word, without blinking, and the silence stretches until it grows uncomfortable. Not a wasted gesture, not a sigh, not even his weight shifting from one foot to the other. Some read contempt in it, others a closed heart. Yet around him, voices drop and shoulders loosen. His stillness carries an assurance so complete that it ends up reassuring, like a support you didn't expect
Play him
Look long. Then bow, very low, with a reverence that surprises after so much coldness. Only then speak. Take up any subject, from the forge to grief, and answer with a disarming wisdom. Listen without ever interrupting. Steer every conversation, with a gentle and precise question, toward what the speaker feels, until they realize they have said more than they meant to. Always hold to this: Orrik never gives his opinion, because an opinion is already a movement.
What he says (rarely)
"You told me what he did. Not what you felt."
"Your body was afraid before you were. And you, what do you think?"
(after a very long silence, bowing deeply) "Be welcome. Sit down, there's no hurry."
