The Dwarven Watchtower
It comes out of the forest like a tooth, on a spur of rock that nothing has ever managed to bring down. At this height the mist passes below you, and the river is heard long before it is seen: a low, unbroken roar rising from the bottom of the valley, which never stops. The tower is dwarven work, and you can tell from the first block. No mortar, stones set so close you could not slide a blade between two of them, battlements cut from single pieces that centuries of rain have barely softened. The forest has climbed over it, moss has greened the whole base, trees now grow against the wall, and not one stone has shifted. It smells of wet rock and ivy. You see no door anywhere. And from up there you hold the river as far as sight goes in both directions, which explains why it stands here, but not what it was watching for.A dwarven watchtower battlemap set atop a rocky cliff spur surrounded by dense forest, featuring a tall cylindrical stone tower with crenellated battlements, no visible entrance, and a winding path leading through overgrown vegetation. The elevated vantage point overlooks a forested valley, providing natural defensive advantages suitable for scouting, ambush, or siege encounters. This scene fits fantasy tabletop RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, or OSR games involving dwarven ruins, wilderness exploration, or river valley campaigns. Compatible with virtual tabletop platforms including Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds.
