People readily lump them in with the Woz, wrongly. The gelatinous cube is not a creature but made matter, closer to a golem than to a Woz. Where a Woz is born, absorbs and becomes, the cube is made, tuned, and obeys nothing but the simple order poured into it: to watch, to clean, to patrol. It does not grow. It needs no living flesh to endure. It dissolves what the magic infused into it permits, no more, no less. A Woz devours you because it lives; a cube dissolves you because it was told to.
It is not fast. But should ill luck drop you into it, or catch some part of you in it, a powerful suction draws you toward its center, where a very slow digestion begins. You will be dead of suffocation long before you are dissolved. Beyond that, each cube has its own specialty.
Perhaps one of the hardest to make: the powers breathed into it, if poorly mastered, turn on their author. More technical, then, but also more fearsome, and shaped for one thing in particular: to repel living intrusions. On what has no mind, it has no hold.
The torpor cube does not fight; it disarms. Its powers are those of illusion and mind-manipulation: its surface turns as peaceful as a lake at dusk, and its scent stirs in you the memory of some old well-being. To each their own, at that: no two companions ever breathe the same thing, and that flaw is what saves you, for the one the charm has not yet taken can call the others back to themselves. As a rule, you have time to react. But once contact is made, the powerful musks it took to forge it become far harder to fend off.
The Torpor Cube is a token or scene asset depicting a large, translucent gelatinous cube of purple and violet hues descending a stone staircase inside an arched dungeon corridor, with a humanoid figure visible at its core. This creature functions as a mind-affecting ooze construct, capable of emitting illusion and torpor effects rather than engaging in direct melee combat, making it suited for dungeon corridor encounters and trap-like ambush scenarios. Compatible with fantasy RPG systems such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder, and OSR rulesets, the asset works across virtual tabletop platforms including Roll20, Foundry VTT, and Fantasy Grounds for encounters involving oozes, constructs, or arcane guardians.
